The classic dental problem
Dental cavities are caused by an infectious disease that destroys your tooth’s structure. Bacteria in your oral microflora use plaque—particularly sugars—as a substrate to produce acids that demineralize and weaken your teeth. Treating cavities requires cleaning these infected areas and rebuilding them with composite resin sculptures that have both functional and aesthetic purposes.
First things first
The dentist first performs a complete exam of your mouth to identify any problems you may have and establish an order of priority for these treatments (cavities, broken teeth, teeth to be replaced, etc.). You’ll also receive a cost estimate.
Not all cavities require treatment: some need to be monitored, while others are reversible and can be “remineralized”. Our hygienists play a preventive role to help you do everything possible to avoid these treatments. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure!

At the Dental Hygiene Clinic, we use a composite material that offers a functional and aesthetic treatment of your cavities. This technique also allows us to replace fillings, treat broken teeth, and fix minor or moderate cosmetic issues. These meticulous treatments are very resistant to wear and can last for decades depending on your oral hygiene.
If the cavity is too extensive (too much of the tooth is missing), we have to use more lasting techniques such as inlays or onlays.
These contemporary techniques are less invasive while preserving as much dental tissue as possible.

Recommendations
At the end of the session, the dentist will make sure the resin restoration they have sculpted can be properly cleaned and you can chew well with it.
This meticulous treatment leaves nothing to chance!
A last piece of advice: You won’t have trouble eating after your treatment, just be careful about biting yourself since you may still be numb from the anaesthetic.
Forget crowns that are too expensive and far too invasive for dental tissue. In most cases, a composite resin or onlay is all you need.
